I'm 5'6 and 110 and want to shed about 5-10 pounds…
help!

How To Lose Weight For Summer

1. Walk on an incline… either a hill or treadmill

Now, if you don't have a treadmill, then obviously you'll have to go to the gym or somewhere to hop on one. If not, just walk up a nearby hill if you have one handy.

Listen, walking on a flat surface pretty much sucks for fast weight loss. It's pretty good for long term weight loss, but that's too slow for this summer. Now, walking on an incline, such as a 10-15 degree inclined treadmill… now that's incredible for fast weight loss.

Walking on a flat surface and walking on an incline are totally different when it comes to quick results. All you have to do is walk on an incline for 15-20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Just 75-120 minutes a week. Not much when you have 10,080 minutes each week. Walking would take barely 1% of your time!

2. Jump on a mini-trampoline

Ok, you don't have time you say? Fine, do this instead. Jump on the mini-trampoline during tv commercials. You watch tv, we all do. Might as well use the dead time during commercials to get a workout in. Each 1 hour tv show has about 22 minutes of commercials. So jump on the mini-trampoline during them and you save yourself a bunch of time since you don't need to schedule a separate workout. Do this for a minimum of 20 minutes a day, everyday.

I need help losing weight because me and my dad have a bet to see who can lose more weight by the end of the school year (6 weeks) Haha and I want that 100 dollars.

So, what are some good tips about losing weight? Snacks, exercises, etc.

Also, if you eat to much bread, do you gain weight? Because I eat a lot of bread…like every day….

Thanks.

Eating alot of bread will make you gain weight. One thing you can do if you like bread is to switch from white to whole grain because its got better fats in it than white.

If you don't want to spend alot of money, then start to eat better and do physical activity. I do an at home workout about 4 times a week when i'm not playing rugby or swimming to keep myself in shape. start with push ups, sit ups, squats and other activities like that and work hard on them. Also go for runs. But to maximize your runs and to burn more fat, do intervals. Like if you have a field near your house that has posts or something on it, go to one of the posts and run from that post to the corner, up to the corner on the other side of the field, to the other posts and then cut back to the posts you started at. the rest for a minute and do that 3 more times.

By eating better and upping physical activity you will lose weight. I'm 17 and in the summer I weighed 260 pounds. and it sucked. not to mention my personal life suffered cause i was huge. so I decided to do something. so i started to eat better and started to workout at home and participate in sports. and i'm now down to 220 in about 7 months. And i feel great. so you have to motivate yourself.

I'm trying to join the Navy and I need to lose 1 1/2 inches of my waist in 8 days. I've been trying to eat right for the past 2 weeks and exersize, I even have this belt thing that is supposed to get rid of water weight around the middle, but nothing really works too well. Any good diets/exercises to get rid of fat around the middle fast?

"Good" and "fast" do not go together in terms of weight loss. Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we've known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Vary your routines. Don't eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn't adjust to any one routine.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

I am a 15 year old girl, I'm about 5'5, and weigh about 160 lbs. I'm pretty self-conscious about my weight, and I want to look and feel healthier. If I go running 3-4 times a week, for about 30-60 minutes, how quickly should I lose weight, and how much will I lose?

Don't listen to the weight loss bologna about pills and everything, pleaaaase! Haha… that stuff is sad.

Running will be great for you! From what I'm hearing, you will probably lose around 2 lbs. a week- a little bit more if you eat really healthy. This does, however, really depend on how hard you work and on your metabolism.

Start going for slow, long jogs just to clear your head. If you're doing it JUST to lose weight, you'll get out of the habit of doing it. Don't worry about your weight too much for now. If you focus on becoming a better runner, you will become a better athlete and begin to see the changes! It's an excellent feeling! However, in my experience, I haven't been able to keep up the routine simply because I want to lose weight. You need a few more little motivational goals to make sure that you will stick w/ the program.

GOOD LUCK! I would love to hear how you're doing. Running is a great thing to relax you and it will make you feel better as well. It releases endorphins and serotonin into the body as well that produces a good feeling.

Anyways, don't try anything other than eating healthy and exercising- the other crap is just bad for you and not effective. Exercise produces a much better effect anyways. :)

Drink lots of water!
